Our Vision: “Within Social Sciences it is the aim of each teacher to ensure the empowerment of our students by providing them the tools to become informed, empathetic, global citizens who can make good life decisions.”

Junior Social Studies (Y9 & Y10)

Social Studies is a two-year programme designed to prepare students for entry into Senior Economics, Geography, and History. Over the two years students will be exposed to the specific skills required to produce thoughtful, meaningful discussions around social issues and current events.

These skills will produce a solid understanding prior to entering the senior disciplines. Students will undertake practical fieldwork, research, and class presentations during this course.

Social Studies aims to develop your understanding of source analysis, critical thinking, empathy, deep reading, essay writing, verbal and written debates, research and investigative skills, confidence, understanding and explaining differing perspectives, and knowing yourself.
